ABOUT THE OLQE
The OLQE is an annual examination for non-Hong Kong lawyers who wish to be become Hong Kong lawyers. The examination is set by the Law Society of Hong Kong.
Head I – Conveyancing
Head II – Civil and Criminal Procedure
Head III – Commercial and Company Law
Head IV – Accounts and Professional Conduct
Head V – Principles of Common Law (Oral Examination)
Head VI – Hong Kong Constitutional Law
Heads I, II, III, IV and VI are tested by way of one written paper in each subject. Unless an exemption is obtained, candidates must sit all 5 of these papers.
Lawyers admitted in a common law jurisdiction are not required to take the oral examination (Head V). Unless exempted, lawyers admitted in a non-common law jurisdiction must take Head V, as well as the 5 written papers.
